Fat Man's was Founded in 1953 by Lee Lampert near Franklin and Division and moved to our current location at 4162 S. Division in 1960. Lee and his sons ran Fat Man's proudly for 44 years.
In 1997 Fat Man's was purchased by Ed and Kathleen Hart. For 13 years Ed was a fixture behind the counter. He loved people and worked every day until his passing in 2010. If you ever met Ed it was obvious he had "the gift of gab" and definitely more than his share to crazy ideas. Kathleen runs the show now and she continues to carry on the tradition of simple, great tasting food started nearly 60 years ago.
People come from all over to enjoy what has been dubbed that "Fat Man's flavor."
This secret flavor is guarded closer than Area 51 but is largely the result of quality ingredients and the care that is taken preparing every order. Each of our 7 fryers is dedicated to a particular type of fish, seafood, chicken or vegetable. The result is the clean, fresh, subtle flavor of every element shines through on it's own, and is never overshadowed by others.
To complement your order we have a long list of sides and condiments including 3 types of seasoned vinegars and our very own Fat Man's Tartar Sauce. You can even take a bottle of Fat Man's Tatar Sauce home with you.
Take your time and sample our menu. We have 22 seafood and fish choices, 18 vegetables, and 2 types of chicken. If you're feeling adventurous you can even try alligator. There's definitely something for everyone!
